War of the Ring, Gondor verses Mordor big battle

Sorry i didnt take any shots of the overall battle.
The forces of the Easterlings came marching and joined ranks of Orcs at the black gate in an open Attack on Ithilien... lucky the brave soldiers of Gondor had spyed their massed troops and brought up a counter offensive from Osgiliath lead by Boromir himself, rallying the local men from the villages of the Anduin they put together quite a force... would Gondor repel Saurons heavy blow?
In short, yes... Jamie wrecked kieran and I on one flank and then went on a rampage with cavalry!
We played on the 12ft by 4ft board I posted a while back, deployed opposite with my weakened Orc horde marching from one side.
It was great fun and Kierans easterling army is gorgeous, he was threatening to bring his mumak but wel save that for the next battle!
Martin lent us his Minas Tirith Army but unfortunately had to pull out on the day, Jamie did well to keep the game moving along by himself.
Thx a heap lads and wel get another one in maybe late Nov early dec perhaps.

New wargaming cupboard

Yay, i scored a free cupboard today.. it has a big chip in the side but hey... its in the garage so who cares!
So here it is with a few of my armies displayed inside, theres pictures shelf by shelf. I know theres much better cabinets out there... you fancy pants guys with your glass doors and nice joinery, but im excited so im postng anyway!
First shelf is Lord of the Rings/hobbit Orc hordes
Second shelf is more Orc hordes, Infinity Ariadna (using modern figures as proxies), a unit or two of Gondor LotR
Third shelf is my Crusade Army
Fourth shelf is my Romans, Eastern Allies, Palmyra Army
Bottom shelf is my meehh... 40k black templars Space Marines and an allied Imperial Rogue trader crew
Fun times, it even has a slider door so i can keep the kids out :)

LotR terrain

Ive been thinking and asking myself some questions...
Do i have  the capacity to host a bigger game?, are my boards big enough?, is my drop cloth long enough?, do i have enough terrain pieces to fill up the board?, am i overfilling it? Omg, how much river does a guy need?
So... after over an hour of tidying up my "work station" and ten minutes of throwing some terrain down i discovered something amazing about myself... when i apply myself, i over achieve!

This is not all my terrain, just the stuff i put down, which i think is perhaps more than enough, but im all about how "realistic" i can get in my setups.
So with a larger kings of war (Lord of the Rings) gondor battle coming up, i know wel be well sorted and will be playing on a 12 foot x 4 foot table like this one.
Im really looking forward to rolling some dice on this and watching mordor and gondor slog it out, fun times ahead.
Im also planning on doing a similar game in November but slightly themed differently for a war in the North, elves included :)

Theres still a little bit of work to do beforehand, quite a few of the pieces arent flocked yet and the ruins gable end pieces need painting up to match the others, might get that all done over the next two weekends.

If u like LotR and u live in NewZealand or more specifically Christchurch and youd be keen on joining a game sometime, let me know.

Wats on the paint table

Currently i have a few projects on the go, but two main ones... my LotR collection is getting a vamp and i bought a Black Templars 40k army off an employee a while back. Heres a few shots of Glofindel, Gimli, king of the dead (converted), some warg riders (new sculpts are awesome), plus a bunch of imperial rogue traders and Black Templar crusading force.

Getting back into it, lord of the Rings and the Hobbit

My entire war of the ring collection currently painted... Dol Gûldûr and Rivendell.
but iv also been working on some rangers and Gondor units. Trying to get a big game going in the spring, wel see if it pans out like i imagine :/
Sometime soon il post my large 12ft terrain board, i want to see how it all actually looks as i havnt used the clothe or combined my different terrain sets yet.
